These glasses respond to UV rays, not how “sunny” it looks.
No UV = No Tint.
If you're inside a car, truck, or anywhere behind UV-blocking glass (like windscreens), they’ll stay mostly clear.
Low UV = Minimal Tint.
In winter, early mornings, or late afternoons, UV levels are weak — even if the sun feels bright.
Result: Only a light tint, or none at all.
High UV = Stronger Tint.
Midday (10am–3pm), especially in summer, is when UV is strongest and you'll see the best transition to a darker shade.
If you want lenses that go fully dark like sunglasses at all times, these won’t do it.
